Coal Bros

Coals together burn longer - coals separated cool.

To connect men to each other through reigniting one of the oldest forms of brotherly gathering - sharing stories around a fire.

Coal Bros General Form: Fill-Out to be Invited

A mature bed of collected coals is the foundation of a sustainable fire that can withstand the darkest of nights. So to, men need to know each other.

We catalyze men to gather within their network using coal bro framework. Email for guidance.

* All gathering elements of Coal Bros is built off principles of The Art of Gathering *

Flexible Format: Must fill out RSVP and vote on questions. If someone comes and doesn't RSVP, there is a silly consequence, decided on by the host.

  1. About an hour of non-structured chill/chat time before question(s)

  2. Most voted question(s) are asked to the group

  3. One-by-one a man gets ____ uninterrupted minutes to answer the question(s)

    1. (# of minutes depends on how many guys are there)

  4. Short break (pee, beer, etc.) after about each 3-4 guys

  5. After the last guy talks, go around the circle one more time. In a couple of sentences share last thoughts, what you wish this group could talk more about, and what you are taking with you.

  6. Either a minute-silence for reflection or prayer to close the structured time.

  7. Non-structured time for however long anyone needs

  8. Last guy cools the coals with a bucket(s) of water

Pop-Up Rules:

  1. When a guy walks up to the fire, someone who knows him introduces him and share a point of connection to the group or another person

  2. If you need to check your phone, don't do it around the fire, pretend to go pee or something.

  3. What is said at the fire is confidential and not to be shared unless you ask that person.

  4. You don't have to speak or answer any questions.

  5. When someone else is talking, and you resonate, relate, or have that "same here" feeling, raise your glass, your smoke, tap your chair or something.

  6. If you don't RSVP you have to sprint 40 yards naked or you owe $5 to the fire fund.

Past Gatherings:

  1. 6/19/22 - Father's Day Fire

    1. Questions: What part of fathering fuels you? Exhausts you? How present are you to your kids? What steals your presence? How can you help yourself be more present?

    2. 8 dads, 24 kids represented

Upcoming Gatherings:

  • Construction Zone: TBD
