No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

MONEY

Is a hard topic. It's a wrestling match that I don't know if 1% of the population has ever reached proficiency. We are the first to admit that walking the money walk is difficult. We try and fumble to trust God with all of our finances. We save, budget, live below our means and give money away, and we are still learning how to best steward our resources.

Resources & services we use, and why:

Before we were married, we went through FPU in 2014 at Vineyard Columbus. We learned a lot of great material and it really helped us get on the same page about spending and saving habits as well as other financial product information. We don't agree and utilize all principles but it was a great foundation.

One day, my friend said, "we can't live a slave-free life, even putting money into a bank gets it all wrapped up in funds and companies connected to trafficking". That always stuck with me. I found CCCU and have let my money be circulated in Kingdom building ways, from certain companies, to church-planting, to other efforts. The customer service is great and streamlined. I even received a couple $1,000 scholarships from them.

Losing company health insurance I had to choose the marketplace or a health-sharing ministry. I compared different companies, listened to podcasts, and decided with Medi-Share in March 2021. They are the health sharing ministry with largest membership and most tech-advanced infrastructure. It's worked well for us thus far.

Our only investments have been a small retirement account. Soon we will begin putting more money into retirement and hopefully begin setting aside more into investments. A fund like Timothy Plan, aligns with our values and we believe as a collective it reaps a lot of Kingdom movement. As I read Jesus's, I wrestle with if he ever would have invested or encouraged any of us to do either.
