safety net

The world breeds a lot of darkness, danger, pain, suffering, betrayal, abuse, neglect, trauma, oppression, hate, vengance, wrath, slavery, apathy, division, denial, confusion, and chaos. I missionally hope to venture into the pits of darkness to bring life, love, freedom, and healing wherever I go. I don't do this well or often. I long to be truly present, to bring the presence of peace and comfort into human interactions, Embodying Home.  That requires a lot of energy, and often I feel like I don't this well. I need to be grounded in God and be restored by the rest and rejuvenation of the earth, the place God made for us.

Additionally, when inviting others into peace, I hope that our physical home our "retreat" and "safety net" (also the name of our wifi networks) is a place for others can feel comfortable, accepted, and at home. I'm not great at this. I'm trying. This is my intention.  Kendra, however, is wonderful at hospitality and creating physical spaces that beckon people deeper into rest and comfortability.  We believe God offered us this home as a resource for our family and others to create a haven for retreat and safety net to land in when life hits us hard.  One day, we hope to foster/adopt and pray the environment and supports the healing of trauma in that child.

I also hope to create more time and space for men to find healing in community. As God prepared a place for us, I'm learning how to create a physical and open space for men to connect.
